Our Mission:

Our mission is simple, and will never change.  Offer compassionate and professional support to seniors requiring assistance with things they either can no longer perform, or need assistance performing. Help in any way possible to make Senior Citizens happier, safer and extended lives in the comfort of their own homes.   

Where we began:

I am Michael Thornton, and founder of New England Senior Services. It’s important you know a little about my background, to get a true understanding of the dedication I have to this cause and the commitment of the company.

I was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was part of a small, but extremely close family that included my Mother, Father, and one Sister.

In 1988, I graduated from the Florida State University. After graduation, I began a career in management. In 1992, I was chosen for an exclusive program for the United Way called: “The Loaned Executive.” 

I was sponsored by my company to work full time with United Way for three months. During this 3 month program, I worked hands-on helping people in need and supporting the 46 Non-Profit Agencies that the local United Way funded. It was during this time, I was exposed to what would eventually become my commitment professionally and emotionally.

After the program ended, I continued United Way volunteer work for many years to come. Running corporate fund-raising campaigns and Chairman of the Allocations Committee, ensuring the monies (funds) raised were properly distributed to those most needy.

In 1997, both my sister and father were diagnosed with cancer. For the next five years, I assisted my mother in caring for them, before losing them both.

After a job transfer moved me to New Hampshire, I quickly determined two things:

1) My mother needed help managing her household (and I’m not there)  

2) I am somehow going to help Senior Citizens in New England remain safely in their homes.

From those experiences, New England Senior Services was created. My policies, dedication, commitment and services come from those experiences. We are here to help, whatever help is needed.

Our commitment is clear:  Every person I help, will be treated like family. It started that way, and will always be that way.
